Dr. Adam Schickedanz is a pediatrician and health services researcher and assistant professor in the department of pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. As an investigator, his research explores the intersections of health, policy, medical education, health services research, care quality, costs, & social change. His recent work has highlighted the long-term behavioral health harms of childhood adversity that can extend across generations from parent to child and he has focused on new ways to understand and address family economic instability as a threat to child health and social determinants of health and social needs.
Dr. Schizkedanz co-founded a nonprofit medical-financial partnership, The Financial Fitness Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital, which has been recognized locally and nationally for its work reducing socioeconomic drivers of poor health among families experiencing economic hardship. He led a randomized trial of financial coaching as a health intervention for low-income families in South Los Angeles and an evaluation of the inter-generational impact of adverse childhood experiences on health and health care utilization as a fellow with the UCLA RWJF Clinical Scholars Program.
