Dr. David Carlisle is the CEO and President of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU). He is also a published author in health policy, quality of care, medical education diversity, and eliminating health disparities. For many years Dr. Carlisle has also served as a volunteer physician at the Venice Family Clinic and is a member of its Foundation Board.
He is the past Director of the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) where he served for eleven years under Governor Gray Davis, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Governor Jerry Brown. Lastly, Dr. Carlisle is a Professor in Public Health and Medicine at CDU as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has consulted for the RAND/UCLA Center for Health Policy Studies. In 2007, he became a senior fellow at UCLA’s School of Public Affairs.
