From 2012 through 2016, Dr. Anish Mahajan was Director of System Planning, Improvement, & Data Analytics for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS), the second largest municipal health system in the nation. At DHS, he helped lead organizational transformation under the Affordable Care Act and oversaw multiple system-wide units including the Office of Planning & Data Analytics, Enterprise Health Information Management, and Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver performance improvement initiatives.

From 2016 through 2023, Dr. Mahajan served as Chief Medical Officer for the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. From May 2021 through September 2023, he served simultaneously as Chief Executive Officer & Chief Medical Officer. 

Since 2014, Anish has also served as Chair of the Board of the L.A. Network for Enhanced Services (LANES), a 501(c)(3) Health Information Exchange and is also a member of the Board of Directors of L.A. Biomedical Research Institute (LABioMed). In 2009, he was appointed by President Obama to serve as a White House Fellow in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where he was a special advisor to OMB Director Peter Orszag during the lead-up to and passage of the Affordable Care Act.

Today, Dr. Anish Mahajan is the Chief Deputy Director of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health where he has served since October 2023.
